last week

The last couple classes are wrapping up and boy am i ready for it to be over! im ready to be done with blog posts, papers, and peer reviews. I will admit that i did have fun this semester Bradford P is not only one of the coolest people i know but a great teacher! it was nice to share this expierence with the rest of you i hope you enjoyed it as much as i did.

field trip

On Monday the twenty second of November our class took a field trip to the St Clair Juvenile Detention center. I didn’t know if it was going to be cool or just another boring field trip. At noon we met Dennis in SWIC parking lot, of course he was late but on the way up there I had to use the bathroom terribly bad so it was already a bad day. We pulled up and had to go through a metal detector and were kind of getting yelled at by the lady doing it I was like oh great another one of these.
When the tour started she told us lots of statistics and about the stuff that the kids have done, when she told me they had murderers there I was surprised because of the fact that the guards carry nothing to protect themselves with but their two hands. When the field trip progressed I really started to enjoy it   because I am trying to go into the Department of Corrections so this was all really interesting to me

this week

This week ill finally get the chance to interview a few of my superiors at the squadron. Most of the reason I havent been able to finish my last paper is because i could not get the interviews that i need they finally made a little time for one of their troops that says alot about my leadership in the united states air force. The only way i will possibly re-enlist is if i can cross train into another squadron.

Spice 2 go

This week im going to tell you about a local product that is sold at my local covience store its called Spice 2 Go. Spice is another for of k2 the legal synthetic weed. Why buy this? Cause its great! You dont fight with anyone, and your always happy. Now i have done the real stuff before this is the better and safer alternative mostly because of the fact that it is Air Force friendly and there is no test for it. For more questions just ask

paper progression

The Security Forces Squadron building resembles that of a police station, because of the fact that it basically is a police station. When you first walk in is the guard mount room, this is where we conduct guard mount. Next the armory is on the right, down the hall is the locker room, the offices, then the class room. When I get my gear on I go to the armory and get my M4 carbine, after everyone has their gear on and is armed up it is time for guard mount. Guard mount is where we all get called to formation, take roll call, and the higher ups give assign us to our posts, the post will either be patrol, gate, or flight line. After we are assigned our posts, our commander Major Brick informs us on the goals that we are to accomplish before the end of drill weekend like appointments, and urinalysis tests. The last thing that guard mount consists of is the safety briefing, which is basically what we can and cannot do while on duty.

my weekend

This weekend like many other my friends and i decided to do something random, we were sitting at Brads house thinking of what we could do. When my friend Steve said that he wanted some astronaut ice cream we decided to go to the science center do get some at this time it is about 2:30 so had to be on the move. We started our journey for the ice cream everything is going well, then we got lost in St Louis. We finally figured out where we had to get but not before we got some Starbucks, at 4:15 we arrived at the science center to learn that it was nine dollar parking for only being in there for five minutes but oh well. We went in and bought 12 bags of the dry ice cream, then decided to go to the Hooka bar on the loop, that was a great time. While sitting there we seen a tattoo parlor, Brad said he wanted to get his nipples pierced so we went there. When it got down to it Steve got his done, then Brad, i didnt want to get anything but i some how got talked into getting my eyebrowl pierced. After we left there we came home picked up jon and went backroading. While backroading we decided to go meet up with some people we knew from Carbondale. By the time we left it was 5 am we stopped in the parking lot of Dairy Queen in Pickneyville to take a quick power nap. We got home at 6:45 and the night was over but it is definitly a day/ night that i willl never forget.

Drill

This weekend I had drill I was not excited at all. When I found out we had to do a 80-10 exercise i was not excited at all in fact i was dreading it. 80-10 is basically were we go stand on a flightline next to a plane and make sure no terrorists come to Scott Air Force base and try to steal them, very unlikely but they seem to think so. The only good part about the exercise is that i get to carry a gun and am authorized to kill anyone who attempts to steal my plane. I no what your thinking who would give me a gun? In all seriousness im a good troop I mess around alot in class but when im in uniform im serious about my job. The Air Force has been my greatest accomplishment, getting through basic was a stepping stone for me i take pride in wearing my uniform. Now my friends on the other hand not so much, my friend Steve told a master sgt that he was on medication so he wouldnt have to do the exersize. Then my other friend Zack brought a gun into the base hospital and thats something you just do not do. Drill isnt that bad if you have a positive attitude and just keep in mind that you are serving your country thats why i do it.

my weekend

Well its that time of the week again english 102 class, once again you get the pleasure of hearing about my eventful life! Its Friday night, im all dressed up and ready to party, about nine i get a text from a friend saying hes having a party. I call my good buddy Zack to do a little pregame backroading, he picks me up we get the supplies and were off, we hit just about every backroad in Randolph county, tag a couple bridges and had a great time. We get to the party at about midnight, when we pulled up i seen that my ex girlfriend was there, i no draggggg right? I decided i was just going to avoid her and hope she doesn't see me, so we played a couple games of flippy cup, then some beer pong. At this time im feeling pretty good, theres girls all over, my friends are there, and everyone is having a good time, as soon as i said that i looked over and seen that she was staring me down, im thinking "oh shit!" so i look away next thing i know shes in my face wanting to talk. In the nicest way that i possibly could i told her to get away from me and i dont care about her, she starts crying and leaves, mission accomplished now i can party! About a hour later this kid tries to start stuff with me, so i told him " dude if you dont back up this is whats going to happen, im going to beat the sh*t out of you, then Matt is going to beat the sh*t out of you, so its pretty much going to be a bad night for you."  The night went on, i got a little crazy, woke up with a hangover, the rest of the weekend was a blur. Tune in this time next week for more of my weekend.

subculture paper progession

My subculture paper is going to be about my unit in the Air National Guard the 126th Security Forces Squadron. I believe the best topic that I can educate the reader is something that I am very familiar with, but also still learning about. As some may already know I am currently in the Air Force National Guard, I go one weekend a month for drill, and go on TDY ( temporary duty missions) a few times a year. I am a Airman First Class, which is the second lowest rank, so I am still learning about it too, which is why I decided to choose the 126th Security Forces as my subculture. In my paper I am going to explain the rank structure, the history of Security Forces, what we do, and why I joined. In doing this it will not just help educate you about the career field, it will also help me with my CDC ( career development course) testing that I need to rank up.
While doing the research for my paper I will be attending my drill weekends, and also interviewing a number of supervisors and hopefully interview our leadership. During our drill weekend we go to Scott Air Force Base and work for two days, while at drill we do everything from training, to going on patrol, working the flight line, working gate, or even be in the classroom all day.  In our squadron we have approximately sixty SF personnel, the majority are Airman first classes, and Senior Airman. There are about twelve to fifteen supervisors, and five in our leadership. To get the proper information I will be interviewing the supervisors, they are the backbone of the squadron, without them the unit wouldn’t function. Also I am going to interview the fellow Airman, hopefully I will find out why most joined, and if we all share the common goals. In the event that I cannot interview the leadership I will talk to prior SF personnel to find out there likes and dislikes of the career field.

Permission letter

Dear English 102 class, this semester we are to write a paper on a subculture of our choosing. In order to not offend anyone, I must ask your permission to write about my subculture. I believe the best topic that I can educate you is something that I am very familiar with, but also still learning about. As some of you already know I am currently in the Air Force National Guard, I go one weekend a month for drill, and go on TDY ( temporary duty missions) a few times a year. I am a Airman First Class, which is the second lowest rank, so I am still learning about it too, which is why I decided to choose the Air Force as my subculture. In my paper I am going to explain the rank structure, the history of the Air Force, what we do, and why I joined. In doing this it will not just help educate you about the Air Force, it will also help me with my CDC ( career development course) testing that I need to rank up. I thank you for your time and I hope you all enjoy my paper.

My crazy night

This week in my blog im going to tell you about my crazy night. My Wednesday started out just like any normal day, i got to sleep in because i didnt have class. At about noon i got a call from my friend Brad telling me were going on an adventure. At first i didnt want to go, then he told me the details, the day would start off with all of us going to B Dubs (Buffalo Wild Wings), then off to see Avatar 3D, laser tag, The strip club. And so our jouney began, except instead of B Dubs we went to golden coral, after we ate all we could it was off to Avatar 3D, that movie was great. After the movie was laser tag but it was closed, so we headed towards PT's in Centerville. When we got there we relized we needed cash so we had to find a ATM, it just so happens the only one open was in the middle of the hood, we were there for less than five minutes and within that i got asked if i wanted crack, weed, meth, and shrooms. After the strip club we headed towards downtown St Louis, we decided to get a room in the Crown Plaza. Now we needed to get beer, you would think in downtown St Louis there would be alot of places to buy alchol but it took us over an hour to find a gas station that sold it that late. When we finally found a place we sent jon in with a hundred and fifty dollars to get as much stuff as he could, while in there a cop walked in while Jon who is only twenty years old was buying the beer. While waiting we got offered drugs another two times, Jon finally got the beer and we went to the hotel and had a epic night.

About me

Hey English 102 class! My Name is Cory Quintana I am twenty years old, and I live in Evansville, Illinois. I have lived in Evansville almost my whole life, I attended Evansville Attendance Center in grade school, and I Went to high school in Sparta. I played football all four years, and always lifted weights for a hobby. When I graduated I started my first semester at SWIC the fall semester of 2008. About in the middle of the semester I decided to join the Air Force national guard, while waiting to go to Basic Training I completed another semester. I left for Basic Military Training the morning of June 2, 2009, within hours my life changed for the worst it was one of the most challenging things I have ever done both mentally, and physically. I graduated as a Honor Grad at the top of my flight on July 31, 2009. While in Basic I led my whole squadron of over 1800 trainees in push ups, pull ups, and sit ups, also I have the 321st Training Squadron record for push ups in a minute with 103. When I graduated I attended the Security Forces Academy, it was fourteen weeks of hell but I had a lot of fun and met some people I will never forget. This is my second semester third semester since I got back, I am looking forward to receiving my associates degree in Administration of Justice, and hopefully some day achieving my goal of becoming a state police officer.
